Reflection:
During the creation of this code I ran into several issues that became quickly overwhelming if I didn't take the time to stop and debug the code one piece at a time. I had the lights behaving very closely to how I originally intended a few times, and ended up further down the rabbit hole and further from what I had set out to do. I have to remember to simplify and work from smaller amounts and ideas before expanding.Remembering that each command is basic and following through on arguments before starting new ones.
Possible Work Idea:
The piece would be setup in a dark room. A CRT TV setup on a black plinth in the centre of the room playing a loop of a live stream. In front of the plinth there would be a small platform housing a photocell sensor. A spot light would illuminate a circle, about 60cm in diameter on the ground in front of the plinth on the platform hitting the sensor. Just behind the plinth hidden in the darkness would be 5 lights, large ring lights and light box fill light facing where the viewer would be standing.
As a viewer approaches and the light is blocked from the photocell sensor this would trigger the back lights to turn on in sequence shining on the viewer. This would simulate the lights and attention one must endure as a performer on camera. As a viewer we normally wouldn't consider what goes on behind the scenes, but in this piece as you get closer to see what is on the tv, you are then blinded by the light.
